Week in Review (December 31, 2013 - January 8, 2014)
2014 is off to a great start. I could not be happier in this life. I decided to take a photo a day and at the end of the year create an album of my year in its entirety. I want to understand what’s important to me. We so often forget the days that matter and focus on only the major events. Truth be told, every day counts in our growth and I want to embrace that growth day by day. Last year I attempted this project using my Fujifilm Instax Camera; although I loved the aesthetic of having a physical photo to hold and remember, this proved to be an expensive task- the camera was bulky and difficult to carry anywhere I wanted to bring it. My cell phone is something I carry where ever I go, so why not try again? I want to remember the places I visit, the people I meet, the things I do, everything I fall in love with, and those other little moments that matter the most.
This week I had an amazing time in Fort Lauderdale and Miami visiting my boyfriend and his family. I kicked off NYE at Barton G’s restaurant and it was an incredible dining experience. I had so many firsts in my time in Florida. I went to my first NHL game (Go Panthers!), I saw Jay Z/Rick Ross/and Timbaland perform an amazing set, I got to see a broadway rendition of ELF the musical, and last but not least saw Billy Joel, a rock & roll legend perform live with Gavin Degraw as the opening act. Seeing all these amazing performances and events was humbling, but I found that the real enjoyment was in being able to share those moments with the people I adore in my life. I feel blessed and lucky for the company I keep and I could not ask for more.
Happy New Year
I cannot believe that another year has passed. 2013 was a roller coaster of the highest highs and the lowest lows. There were moments I wasn’t sure I could conquer and other moments that changed my life in inexplicable ways. There is one thing that is for certain, 2013 was the year that I grew up. I learned more about myself in the last twelve months than I had in my entire life. Often times truths are not presented to us in ways we accept or understand, but that is part of learning to grow and we need to trust those moments.
I believe the the New Year holds a lot of pressure. People stress over how they will spend their New Years Eve. People worry about finding their perfect resolutions for the “new” person they wish to become. Truth of the matter is, all of these things are insignificant. It doesn’t matter how or where you ring in the year; ring it in with those you love. Resolutions are goals we rarely keep; instead resolve to better yourself year round and give yourself a fresh start each day. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will you. If there is one thing I’ve learned, approach life with modest expectations and pleasant surprises. Life can be full of surprises as long as you let them happen.
I am excited for everything that is in store for me in 2014. I know that there will be hard moments and amazing moments, but that is what life is all about. I wish everyone an amazing New Year with a bounty of health, friends, and family- because in the end, that’s all we truly need.
Dress: Motel Rocks NastyGal.com
10 Dresses to New Year
I love this one shoulder black and silver sequin dress. Only NYE and Vegas are a reasonable excuse to wear sequin everything and this dress is one of my personal favorites.
I’ve been eyeing this emerald sequin dress for a few months now. Even before I knew what my plans were, I knew that this was going to be my dress. I am absolutely in love with it and it’s definitely a different twist to the standard NYE dress.
I’ve had this dress in my closet for the last year and have not had the chance to wear it yet. I think this is a perfect dress for NYE. It’s simple, sexy, and all you need is a pair of diamond earrings and you’re the next Bond girl.
This dress is amazing. I love the shape cut outs and the sequined bodice. This dress is extremely comfortable to wear and you can even dress it down with a leather jacket. You can very easily wear this throughout the year.
I have never had a light pink sequined baby doll dress, and now wasn’t the time to have reservations. I love this dress for the cutout sides. It’s a great variation on the traditional NYE dress.
You can never go wrong with a LBD on New Years. I found this dress at NastyGal and fell in love instantly. The lace front makes the dress.
I rarely go into Macy’s and leave with something I’m happy with.. other than Godiva Chocolate. HOWEVER this time, I came across this dress. I thought that this dress is a sophisticated and elegant way to ring in the New Year.
I originally brought this dress for Vegas, yet I find myself wearing it year round. This is the gold version of the emerald dress I showed earlier. I love matching sheer black tights, chunky heels, and a leather jacket over this look.
I got this dress for $5 from Tobi during their Cyber Monday sale; however I wasn’t a fan of the asymmetrical skirt, so when it arrived in the mail, I made sure to cut it off and this was my creation. Never be scared to alter clothing to make it from something you like into something you love.
I came across this dress at Tj Maxx and I knew that I could wear this dress at parties and events year round. Marshalls and Tj Maxx are greatplaces to find inexpensive designer and independent designer fashions for a fraction of the price.
Happy Holidays from my pup Zoey and I! I just want to thank everyone for all the support you’ve given me this year. A special thank you to all those companies that believed in my vision as a fashion blogger and reached out to collaborate with me. I have so many wonderful ideas for 2014, and I am so excited for what’s to come. Wishing all my followers an incredible New Year and nothing but the best for 2014.
This is a great holiday look for under $100. Looking stylish doesn’t always have to break your wallet. I found this dress at Marshalls/TJX for $10, the heels were a fall find at Forever21 for $28, and the accessories were bought at Charming Charlie’s for $50. I believe that you can never go wrong with winter whites, and this look has it all. A simple way to dress up at simple white dress is by adding big accessories and of course… awesome shoes! I will be posting more holiday look ideas in the coming days.

I’ve jumped headfirst into the Jumpsuit craze. Having bought three in the last month, I think every girl should have one in their closet. Tobi has an amazing deal for the month of December, everything is 40% off! So there’s no excuse to question buying that article of clothing you or or your friend has been drooling on.
